Kazan Arena: FC Rubin Kazan

In 2010, it was announced that Russia would host the 2018 World Cup finals. However, one major concern was the lack of appropriate stadiums in the country. As a result, new stadiums were planned, including the construction of a new ground for Rubin Kazan.

The stadium, located in the capital of the Tatarstan region, was built between May 2010 and July 2013. It was chosen to host the 2013 Summer Universiade, which is similar to the Olympics for students. The Kazan Arena hosted the football matches of the competition and also became the venue for the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and the 2017 Confederations Cup.

Officially known as the AK Bars Arena, the stadium is still commonly referred to as the Kazan Arena. It has become a significant landmark for the city.
